Free-standing tatting edged round ~AND~ bookmark designs done in the machine embroidery hoop! These sweet and delicate tatting edges are completely free standing when attached to fabric or paper. They are done like easy appliqué. I even have one of each (doily and bookmark) that includes cross stitch. One includes an inner circle that can be done with a wing needle for a traditional entredeux look. Or you can use a regular needle. Leave off the last color if you don't want the inner circle. These designs coordinate with the Tatting 87 and Tatting 88 designs. I include detailed instructions so you can stitch these. These tatting designs are all done as in the hoop projects. No additional sewing necessary. I used a regular weight (40 wt.) embroidery thread for all designs shown in this set.
Click for a larger view.	As requested, I made a beautiful 8-inch round with a tatted edge (shown on the left). This is all done completely in the hoop and has finished edges. You use a piece of fabric and wash away stabilizer. I include the cross-stitch design too. This matches the Tatting 87 & Tatting 88 designs. I show the Tatting 88 6-inch circle below. I used a regular-weight 100% linen fabric again for this one. I used a regular 40-weight embroidery thread. The tatting edge is polyester thread and the cross-stitch colors are done with some polyester and some rayon thread. It looks like it should be hard - but it isn't. Complete instructions included.
Click for a larger view.	I made bookmarks with this set too! They fit a 100x170 mm (4x7 inch) hoop or larger. This one has cross stitch flowers and the word "read".
Click for a larger view.	I stitched this one on Mulberry Paper. I get mine here - Make sure you get HEAVY weight Mulberry paper. They have LOTS of different paper. I used a wing needle and a thread color that was close to the paper color for the entredeux stitching - it makes it look more the traditional entredeux that way. You don't have to use a wing needle if you don't want to - or if your machine can not handle a wing needle. Just use the largest size of needle your machine will allow. This fits an 8x8 inch (200x200 mm) hoop size. This design does not have a finished edge - great for paper or a fabric that already has a finished edge. The tatting edge's picots catch right along the edge. Complete instructions included.
Click for a larger view.	I added a name (not included) to the "plain" bookmark. This was a gift to the neighbor who took care of our plants while were gone for a couple of months. She seemed pleased when I gave her this since she is an avid reader. You can add a name, initials or another designs to the inside area. Or just leave it plain. Works great for batiks like mine. I used polyester thread. It looks like it should be hard but it isn't. Complete instructions included.
