Continuous free-standing tatting edges ~AND~ tatted hanky designs done in the machine embroidery hoop! These sweet and delicate tatting edges are completely free standing. Stitch them out continuously in your hoop to make a piece as long as you want for your project. The tatted hanky is all done completely in an 8x8 inch hoop. I include detailed instructions so you can stitch these all easily. These tatting edges are all done as in the hoop projects. No additional sewing necessary. I used a regular weight (40 wt.) embroidery thread for all designs shown in this set. |

I made a hanky with a tatted edge.
This is all done completely in the hoop and has finished edges.
You use a piece of fabric and wash away stabilizer. I include the cross-stitch design too. You can add an initial as I have done (not included). I used a regular-weight 100% linen fabric. I used a regular 40-weight embroidery thread. The tatting edge is polyester thread and the cross-stitch and initial are done with rayon thread. It looks like it should be hard - but it isn't. I added a free-standing continuous
tatting edge (without headers) to a purchased linen towel. This
was 3 sections. I can't tell where they are joined after I rinsed
out the stabilizer. I added my initial too (not included).
This worked up quickly. The tatting is all done in the hoop.
It is attached directly onto the towel's edge. These designs would work great for children's clothes, doll clothes or anywhere you want a small, delicate tatted edge. EASY Complete instructions included. |

I am holding a long continuous piece of
the tatting that has a header. You stitch out the continuous
pieces and trim the stabilizer away leaving a little around the edges.
Stitch the header into your seam. Rinse. It is completely
free-standing tatting. This is all done in the hoop. No need to connect the pieces later by hand. If you look closely, you can see where two of the pieces have been joined together in the hoop (I tell you how). You can make your tatting piece as long as you want. I used rayon thread for this one. It looks like it should be hard but it isn't. Complete instructions included. |

Here is a picture of how the optional
corner piece attaches to the rest of the tatting edging. These
designs (without headers) are normally done directly onto the edge of a
project. I stitched them all out so you could see what they look
like. They also each have a placement line (not shown) so you can
line them up perfectly along the edge of your project like I did for my
towel shown above. I even include a single so that you can make these the correct length you need. I used a regular 40-weight embroidery thread -polyester. Complete instructions included. |
