For 4x4 inch (100 x 100 mm), 5x7 inch (130x180 mm), 8x8 inch (200x200 mm) and 8x12 inch (200x300 mm) hoops
and larger
Although Sashiko is traditionally done by hand, I know that some of you will not stitch out ~anything~ by hand. So I made these designs that are inspired by the Sashiko stitching. Although it isn't an exact match for Sashiko, it is fun and EASY to make them on your embroidery machine.
All designs are delivered as email attachment in Zip file.

Some of these are BIG! But they are easy to stitch out. The
cranes are done with Sashiko-Inspired stitching. I like the big
ones the best. I have these done several ways and for different hoop sizes. My picture shows the 5x7 inch size done on a lovely cream colored 100% linen fabric. They are very striking too when you stitch them on a traditional indigo fabric with white thread. They will make great quilt squares, use them in wall hangings or use in cushion covers. Use one or more on a tote bag. They will work anywhere you want to add an oriental flair. These designs use regular weight embroidery thread. You will want to use a regular bobbin thread with these too. I like to use a white bobbin thread with light fabrics and a black bobbin thread for dark fabrics. You can stitch these on a traditional indigo fabric with a white thread. |

This one is for the 8x8 inch hoops. I have it done as a single
color or with the cranes in 3 colors. You can stitch these on a traditional indigo fabric with a white thread. I think it looks striking with the red thread on black fabric. |

This bird is BIG! It is for the 8x12 inch hoops. It my
favorite size. It would work great for the center of a quilt or a
wall hanging. You can stitch these on a traditional indigo fabric with a white thread. I think it looks striking with the red thread on black fabric. |

This bird is smaller. It is for the 4x4 inch hoops. You can stitch these on a traditional indigo fabric with a white thread. I have this done in a circle too for the 4x4 inch hoops. |
