From original artwork & chart by Carol Schmidt Edited and made into machine embroidery by Marian Ecker Carol says that when she was doing research for this pattern that, "It seems that in the late 1800's the Jumeau and Bru companies sometimes sold their bisque dolls clad only in stockings and a chemises. To me that meant that they would have had to have been dressed before they were given to a child, which means that someone had to make those incredible outfits." That is why this pattern is called the Doll Costumer. The Doll Costumer comes in 2 sizes for the machine formats listed below. You get both the large and the small versions when you order this design. The small size stitches out to be about 5.7" wide x 6.3" tall (144 mm wide x 160 mm tall). The large size stitches out to be about 8.3" wide x 9.1" tall (210.4 mm wide x 230 mm tall). The small version of the designs will work in the D1/D2, ULT and Artista* and commercial machines as a single hooping. For most other hoop sizes, you must rehoop. All of the Victorian ladies and gentleman designs must be rehooped for the large size unless you have a commercial machine.
